Superb 19th century French Saint Gabriel Archangel example. This part wood and plaster model of Saint Gabriel retains most of its beautiful polychrome paint. The body is made of plaster and mounted with delightful glass eyes, the wood carved wings have been replaced sometime in the second half of the 20th century. A truly highly decorative piece!

Provenance: France (probably from a small French Chapel at the end of the Loire valley)
